Description:
Kindlewood was originally high school sweethearts, Kelci and Galen Smith. They started the band in their campus apartment in Dallas, TX. Kelci says she can't pinpoint the, "Hey, let's start a band" moment, but she remembers the feeling of knowing it was meant to be. A couple of close, Texas friends who heard their very beginning sounds encouraged them to take music seriously; they did.

After moving back to DC, Kelci and Galen continued to write (and toss) songs and played a sprinkling of shows in the area. Between finding enthusiastic crowds and making some pretty cool connections, their meager beginnings hinted at a bright future. One particularly enthusiastic person fronted the money for them to start recording their debut EP, "I Don't Believe in Ghosts". During that time, they also met and gigged with Jamison Lyman who was performing solo as A Tale Of. After a glass of water met with his MacBook, indefinitely suspending A Tale Of, a tongue-in-cheek invitation to join kindlewood (Kelci and Galen weren't really thinking about having another guitarist) and a swift friendship, Jamison joined the kindlewood family.

Together, they finished "I Don't Believe in Ghosts" and immediately began writing and recording their debut LP, "Desiderium." Jamison brought with him influences such as Radiohead, Future of Forestry and Sigur Rós. Kelci and Galen brought the influences of Simon & Garfunkel, Jeff Buckley and Feist (largely due to a music binge initiated by Kelci's brother, J. Tillman...yes, THE J. Tillman). This combination of influences made for a blend that's delicate, yet simultaneously gritty, bridging a gap between old and new. "Desiderium" was released May 31, 2011
