On Friday, August 5th from 1 – 2:30p.m., Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine will host its 2nd annual Wizard Mini-Medical School, sponsored by VCOM Library and VCOM’s International and Appalachian Outreach department. This event for Teens, ages 13 – 16 years, is designed to teach and inform youth about medical science and health issues in addition to fostering interest in medical science and inspire youth to pursue a career in medicine.
Youth attending the Mini-Medical School will have the opportunity to participate in interactive stations that are led by faculty and medical students at VCOM. Each interactive station will have hands-on demonstrations and brief lectures. Health topics of the interactive stations include: first aid and safety tips; the health dangers of drugs, alcohol abuse, and smoking; HIV; the risks of body modifications such as tattoos and piercings; and how to keep your heart healthy.
Again this year, the Mini-Medical School will be conducted with a magical theme. Come experience the magic of medicine! Registration is required and space is limited, so be sure to sign up soon!
