The Town of Blacksburg Museum and the Community Group of Montgomery County cordially invite you to attend a special book signing and reception honoring Dr. Wornie Reed. Dr. Reed is the Director of Virginia Tech’s Center for Race and Social Policy Research; and, Professor of African Studies and Sociology at Tech. His newly published book, Racial Profiling: Causes & Consequences will be available for purchase and signing by Dr. Reed.
The reception will be held at the historic St. Luke and Odd Fellows Hall located in Blacksburg near the intersection of Prices Fork Road and North Main Street. Light refreshments will be served.
The Community Group is an African American organization promoting civic engagement, education and service. The Community Group, founded ten years ago, seeks to strengthen the African American community through programs, grants, and activities.
The Town of Blacksburg Museum pursues its mission through innovative exhibits and programs that engage and enhance community. St. Luke and Odd Fellows Hall, which was restored in April 2010, is a museum of African American Culture, positioned in the heart of the “New Town” area of Blacksburg.
Directions: The St. Luke and Odd Fellows Hall is located behind Wendy’s at the intersection of Prices Fork Rd. and North Main Street Blacksburg. Because of construction, Gilbert Street is accessible from Turner Street. There are several parking lots along Gilbert Street as you approach the Hall.
