The American Songbook program features the best American songs of the 20th century, principally from Broadway theatre and musical theatre from the 1920s through the 1960s.

The Center for Arts at Virginia Tech will bring the Vocal Arts and Music Festival to the Virginia Tech campus on June 18-July 1. Called Viva Virginia last year, the event is presented in partnership with International Vocal Arts Institute (IVAI) founders Joan Dornemann and Paul Nadler of the Metropolitan Opera. The Vocal Arts and Music Festival unites opera’s rising stars with opera legends, world renowned coaches, and outstanding instrumentalists for two weeks of masterclasses, performances, and more. Blacksburg hosts one of the three international IVAI programs—the other two are in Tel Aviv, Israel, and Montreal, Canada.
