Blacksburg Parks and Recreation Department presents Blacksburg Climbing Boulders Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Blacksburg Municipal Park. Join Blacksburg Parks and Recreation and the Town of Blacksburg Government in celebrating an exciting new play space addition to Municipal Park, the Climbing Boulders! All are invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open this new feature in our park. The event will take place at the Climbing Boulders within Municipal Park, next to Hand-in-Hand playground. Blacksburg Parks and Recreation has expanded its outdoor amenities with the installation of four new climbing boulders at Municipal Park. The new area features two 2.5-ton fiberglass boulders sourced from EP Climbing in Oregon, alongside two substantial shotcrete structures from El Dorado Climbing in Colorado, weighing 17 tons and 27 tons. All four boulders are 10 feet tall! The boulders are custom sculpted to facilitate climbing both with and without handholds, offering a fun experience for beginners and experienced climbers alike.
