The Ati: Wa:oki Indigenous Community Center and Native at Virginia Tech presents their 9th Annual Spring Pow Wow on Saturday, May 2, 2026 inside the War Memorial Gym on the campus of Virginia Tech. Enjoy an event full of cultural and traditional dancing, singing, and education around Native and Indigenous heritage and culture. This is a great family friendly event. Learn about the tribes in the Commonwealth and beyond! There will also be many talented vendors and artisans in attendance. The powwow will include two head dancers, an arena director, drum groups from both northern and southern traditions, and a master of ceremonies. The Head Man for the powwow is Monte Boddie. The Head Lady is Alicia Aldaz. Master of Ceremonies is Rufus Elliott and the Arena Director is Joey Crutchfield. The Northern Drum is Red Clay Singers and the Southern Drum is Smokey River Singers. Powwow honors traditional Native gatherings by incorporating Indigenous values such as respect, tradition, and generosity, offering an opportunity for the university community to experience Indigenous culture firsthand. This family-friendly event is free and open to the campus community and the general public. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside War Memorial Gym on the campus of Virginia Tech.
