Claytor Lake State Park presents a World Wetlands Walk on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Join us to celebrate World Wetlands Day. Ever wondered where salamanders live? Have you heard of fairy shrimp? Join our rangers for a short hike to our vernal pools and learn what they are and what critters reside there. The hike is about 1.5 miles and relatively flat, but rocky. We will walk off the trail to get to one of the vernal pools so good walking shoes are recommended. The event is free, however the $7.00 per vehicle state park parking fee per vehicle still applies. Registration is not required. Children are welcome. This program is conducted in accordance with Virginia law; park staff possess the proper permits and training to collect and briefly handle wildlife. Claytor Lake State Park is located at 6620 Ben H. Bolen Drive in Dublin, VA. To view the event flyer, visit: https://i.postimg.cc/8CzTyq9w/image.png.
