The Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery presents the 12th Annual Wreath Ceremony on Saturday, December 14, 2024. December 14th is National Wreaths Across America Day, a day dedicated to honoring those who serve, remembering the fallen, and teaching the value of freedom to the next generation. The annual wreath laying ceremony will begin promptly at 1:00 PM in partnership with the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery Volunteers and other community partners. The ceremony includes the UAW Veterans Freedom truck and motorcycle display, presentation of the colors, a military band, the Honor Guard, and distinguished guest speakers. Family members are invited to lay wreaths first followed by all others who wish to participate. The wreaths are provided by generous donations from individuals, corporations and organizations throughout the year. Last year, friends and family laid more 1,728 wreaths for the 11th Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony. All are welcome. Parking is available at Dublin Park directly across from the cemetery with shuttle bus service to the cemetery beginning at 11:30 AM. There is also a new staircase constructed for easy walking access from the park. Accessible parking will be available at the cemetery on a first-come first-served basis.
