Christiansburg Library continues their 2023 Music on the Lawn concert series with Ash Devine on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Ash Devine writes, collects, and performs cross genre music based on numerous music traditions including original Americana & indie-folk-rock, traditional Appalachian, contemporary folk, country and country blues, historic bluegrass, folk revival, and international folk music. An accomplished songwriter, vocalist, theater artist, and fingerstyle guitar & ukulele player, Ash has self produced two albums of original music. Born and raised in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia, Ash lived for over 17 years in the Western North Carolina region where she developed her studies of Appalachian music traditions. In 2015, Ash starred as "Mother Maybelle" Carter of the legendary Carter family band and was musical director for the play "Esley: The Life and Music of Lesley Riddle." Ash Devine tours and performs in reputable music venues, festivals, community settings, and health care facilities nationwide. Inspired by her international travels with Patch Adams, M.D. Ash facilitates therapeutic arts and music-based programs for elders and intergenerational groups in educational and health care settings. Each month, one talented local band will play a concert on our lawn after hours. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for an evening under the stars. Feel free to bring a picnic as well! This concert is rain or shine. In case of rain, the concert will be moved inside. Christiansburg Library is located at 125 Sheltman Street in Christiansburg, VA.
