Venue: Blacksburg Library

Description: Blacksburg Library presents an Author Event "Chasing Tigers in the Dark" with Ally Shaw on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

Join us as Ally Shaw, author of "Chasing Tigers in the Dark: Life Lessons of a Fierce Survivor", discusses how she overcame life’s battles to become an author, motivational speaker, and fierce survivor.

For two decades, Ally Shaw buried the nightmares of her past deep below the surface. The former opera singer had forgotten the sound of her own voice, wearing the painful costume of a "people pleaser" until eventually, in a single moment, every horrific memory broke free like a tidal wave - the rape, the incest, the divorce, the cancer, the deaths. Around every corner were signs that she was living the wrong life, celestial messages that came during a serendipitous visit with a tiger at a North Carolina ranch.

"Chasing Tigers in the Dark: Life Lessons of a Fierce Survivor" is a raw and revealing self-help memoir, exploring the author's traumatic experiences while shining a light of hope on a beautiful love story, proliferated from the ashes of a painful past. This is the story of an underdog who turned the stinging repetition of loss into a miraculous story of survival - winning as a multi-unit franchise leader in the #1 pizza brand in the world, becoming a motivational speaker, and thriving as a devoted wife and mother to a beautifully blended family of seven amazing children.

Ally Shaw is a born and bred Virginian. She has a deep love for animals, music, and traveling. Ally is an enthusiastic foodie, and even more so loves bougie coffee and French champagne. She is a fierce survivor who has reinvented herself multiple times after devastating loss. Ally is an entrepreneur, core value ambassador, and is deeply passionate about helping others to become their best selves, especially after trauma.

Ally earned a bachelor’s degree from Elon University and a master’s degree from Loyola University New Orleans. Ally and her husband own a multi-unit 17 store Domino’s Pizza franchise in Virginia and West Virginia and employ over 300 people. Ally has been a break-out speaker for a 10,000 attendee International Domino’s Conference in Las Vegas and was featured in a National Domino’s Television Commercial in 2020.

Ally is the author of Chasing Tigers in the Dark, Life Lessons of a Fierce Survivor and launched a new career as a motivational speaker at age 40. Ally splits her time between Blacksburg, Virginia and Sunset Beach, North Carolina.
