Description: Westover Ballet performs "Nutcracker 1918" on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Pearisburg Recreation Center.

"Nutcracker 1918" is a unique and heartwarming interpretation of a beloved classic.

Westover Ballet premiered this adaptation of the holiday classic at the Ratcliffe Museum in 2019 to an overly full house and are now taking it on the road. Both Wilderness Road Regional Museum and the Ratcliffe Museum will head with them and set up a museum display of local items from WWI soldiers to help share the story.

Christmas, 1918, Pulaski Depot. The guns in France at last are quiet. The boys come home and are reunited with their loved ones. Gone are the brutal months of trench warfare and the anxious months spent waiting at home. Families can once again celebrate together, singing "Peace on earth, Goodwill toward men".

This is the backdrop for the story of young Clara, eagerly waiting for her brother’s return. Westover Ballet’s Nutcracker 1918 takes her on a journey of vivid imaginations and finally brings her to a heartwarming conclusion.

Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids ages 10 and under.

VIP Experience tickets are also available which includes the performance and a special tea party with Clara starting at 3:15 PM. VIP tickets are $10.00 per person.
