COVID has been very difficult for older adults in our community who experience both social isolation and food insecurity. The Virginia Tech COVID Crushers and the Student Nutrition and Dietetic Association at Virginia Tech are leading a drive to collect food for people and pets for the New River Valley Agency on Aging and the Interfaith Food Pantry. They and other students will help NRVAOA deliver food throughout the New River area.

Food Items Needed:
• Dog & Cat Food (canned or dry, preferably 5 pound bags)
• Cat Litter
• Peanut Butter (smooth, not crunchy)
• Saltines
• Canned Vegetables & Soups (tomato, chicken noodle & vegetable, low sodium with pull top tabs)
• Canned Tuna (pull top can)
• Juice Boxes
• Instant Oatmeal (box of single serve packets)
• Mac & Cheese Bowls (single serve)
• Fruit Cups
• Other Non-Perishable Items

This is a wonderful way for our community to support one of the groups who is experiencing many difficulties during the pandemic.

There will be collection boxes open from February 17th-24th, during business hours, at the Blacksburg Weight Club, Wallace Hall and the Veterinary College.
