Solely Swing, Blacksburg Swing Dance and West Coast Swing Blacksburg present their Soul Party Dance on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in the Multipurpose Room within the Graduate Life Center located on the campus of Virginia Tech. Event Schedule: • 6:30-7:15 pm: West Coast Lesson • 7:15-8:00 pm: Blues Lesson • 8:00-10:00 pm: Social Dancing Join us as we take you all the way back to the 1970s. This 70s themed night will feature lessons in Blues and West Coast and plenty of soul music. Disco attire is not required, but is very much encouraged. Come out and boogie the night away with us! No partner or experience required. Admission is free and all are welcome. Solely Swing is the swing dance club at Virginia Tech. Full of passionate, fun, and friendly dancers, we travel the world (or more accurately, the surrounding area) to learn new dance skills and theories and meet new people. West coast swing is a slotted partner dance that originated from bouncy and energetic lindyhop. Through the influence of many different dances, including hip hop, blues, and recently zouk, it turned into a smooth, slinky, and elastic dance, which can be danced to practically any song on the top hits radio stations. This group is open to both students and non-students. It is free, no partner is necessary, and open to all.
