Description: The 12th Annual EastMont Tomato Festival is on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at The Meadowbrook Center in Shawsville, VA.

• 11:15 am: Magic Show with Magician Mark Fuller
• 12:00 pm: Announcements of Contest Winners
• 12:15 pm: Music with Stonehouse
• 12:15 pm: Live Tomato Cook-Off
• 12:15 pm: TomatOlympics begins for Ages 6-13
• 12:15 pm: Cherry Tomato Challenge Events
• 1:30 pm: Music with Fort Vause
• 2:15 pm: Awards Ceremony for TomatOlympics
• 2:30 pm: Tomato Eating Contests for Kids & Adults

The free festival features contests for the tomato art and recipe, as well as competitions for Biggest, Ugliest and Best-Tasting Tomato. You can also don your best tomato-themed outfit to compete in the ever-popular Tomato Pageant for all ages with multiple age groups and it's free to enter, and belly up to become the Tomato-Eating champion.

In addition, the festival features:
• Great food (fried green tomatoes, BLTs, pizzas, tomato sandwiches, tomato biscuits and more)
• Live music by local bands
• Magic Show and Games
• Arts, crafts and foods from regional artists and farmers
• And of course the TomatOlympics, a series of tomato-themed challenges along our crazy obstacle course and it's free to enter. Just for the fun of it, kids get a chance to throw squishy tomatoes at the Human Tomato Target.

This year’s festival is being presented by Red Sun Farms, a leader in the true greenhouse vegetable industry, owning and operating farms in all three NAFTA countries: Canada, Mexico and the United States including nearby Dublin.

The EastMont Tomato Festival is a program of Mountain Valley Charitable Foundation.

The Eastmont Community Foundation (formerly the Mountain Valley Charitable Foundation) sole mission is to enhance the quality of life in eastern Montgomery County, Virginia by providing opportunity and empowering the community.

The foundation is a private, nonprofit organization and currently operates the Meadowbrook Community Center, the Waldron Fitness Center, the Eastmont Thrift Shop and the Old Town Fields athletic complex at Shawsville Middle School. ECF also supports LINC in publishing the quarterly LINC Letter to help keep the community connected. Our outreach programs and activities are aimed at improving health, well-being and education in our community.

The foundation does not receive operational support from any governmental organization. It depends on charitable contributions to make its programs possible. All donations to the Eastmont Community Foundation stay right here — in eastern Montgomery County. Every dollar raised is directly invested back into our community. Whether through volunteerism or donations, your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
