The Virginia Tech Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences presents the 2019 Emily Jane Hilscher Memorial Horse Show on Saturday, April 20, 2019 and Sunday, April 21, 2019 at the Alphin-Stuart Arena on the campus of Virginia Tech. The Emily Jane Hilscher Memorial Horse Show is held annually in memory of Emily Jane Hilscher, a freshmen Animal and Poultry Sciences student who died in the April 16th, 2007 tragedy at Virginia Tech. Each year the Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences hosts an open Hunter and Western show in honor of Emily's life. The show consists of Hunter classes on Saturday and Jumper classes and some Hunter classes on Sunday. Classes start at 9:00 am on Saturday and 10:00 am on Sunday. All proceeds from the show go towards the Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences' Emily Jane Hilscher Memorial Scholarship which is annually awarded to undergraduate students within the Equestrian program who represent and exemplify the qualities that Emily herself had and gives back to the Equestrian program. All are welcome and admission is free for spectators. There will also be a Easter Egg Hunt starting at 5:00 pm on Saturday with an entrance fee of $3.00 per child. Concessions will be available and no dogs are allowed. The horse show is sanctioned by the Southwest Virginia Hunter Jumper Association (SWVHJA). This show is organized and operated by Virginia Tech and supported by members of the Virginia Tech Equestrian Club, teams and alumni.
