Description: The Virginia Tech Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing presents a Poetry Reading and Book Signing with Sam Sax, the 2019 Visiting Soniat Reading Series Reader, on Thursday, February 21, 2019 inside The Cube at the Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech.

Sam Sax is a queer, jewish, poet and educator. He's the author of "Madness" (Penguin, 2017), winner of The National Poetry Series and ‘Bury It’ (Wesleyan University Press, 2018), winner of the James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets.

He’s received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, Lambda Literary and the MacDowell Colony. He’s the two-time Bay Area Grand Slam Champion, author of four chapbooks and winner of the Gulf Coast Prize, The Iowa Review Award and American Literary Award. His poems have appeared in BuzzFeed, The New York Times, The Nation, Poetry Magazine and other journals.

The reading will be followed by a Q&A and book signing. Books will be available for purchase on location provided by the Virginia Tech Bookstore.
