• 7:00-10:00 pm: Contra Dance

Star-Front Property will provide music with Bill Wellington calling the dance. Arrive early for the beginners workshop at 6:30 pm.

This Southwest Virginia band features Matt Livingston on mandolin, Gina Dilg on fiddle, Jason Dilg on banjo and guitar, and Joel Keebler on bass. Their musical repertoire, instrumental variety, and unique arrangements always make for a very fun dance evening.

This month's caller, Bill Wellington, from Staunton, is also well-known as the host of the children's Radio Woof school programs, and has been a story-teller, folk musician, songwriter, and popular dance caller for over twenty-five years.

In a contra dance, parallel lines of dancers stand opposite or "contra" to their partners. No fancy footwork, just simple figures, progressing up or down the line to eventually dance with everyone as the caller prompts to live music.

All ages are welcome. No partner or experience is necessary as the caller will teach each dance.

Dress is casual and wear soft flexible shoes for dancing.

Parking is available in the rear of the building.

The Floyd Contra Dance occurs on the second Saturdays from September through May at The Floyd Center for the Arts.

The Floyd Center for the Arts is located at 220 Parkway Lane in Floyd, VA, one mile south of Floyd, VA traffic light.
