Walk or Talk: Tangled up in Poison Ivy:

Date: February 06, 2019
Time: 12:00 - 1:00 PM
Venue: Hahn Horticulture Garden (Virginia Tech)
Description: The Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech continues their Walk or Talk series with "Tangled up in Poison Ivy" on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 starting at the Peggy Lee Hahn Garden Pavilion.

John Jelesko, Associate Professor in the School of Plant and Environmental Science, will talk about his research on poison ivy. Poison ivy is a paradox. In the lab, they refer to it as the “Familiar Stranger”. It seems to be ubiquitous, and thus familiar. Yet, many of the aspects that seem to be most obvious about poison ivy do not hold up very well to our scientific studies. John's talk will discuss what is both familiar and “strange” about poison ivy biology and ecology.

This talk is free and open to the public.

All Wednesday Walk or Talks start at 12:00 pm and will meet at the pavilion. A visitor pass is required to park in the Hahn Garden visitor lot. Come early to grab a pass from the Hahn Garden staff and find a place to park before the talk begins.
