The Arc of The New River Valley presents their Annual Cookie & Caroling Party on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Blacksburg Christian Church. NOTE: Due to the snowstorm, this event was postponed until Sunday, December 16, 2018 instead of December 9th. Enjoy cookies and caroling with singer and songwriter Leslie Brooks in a family friendly holiday event. Everyone is welcome as we share in some holiday cheer together! We hope you can join us! Admission is free and all are welcome. The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes. We are people with disabilities, family members of people with disabilities, teachers and students in our local school systems, university professionals, doctors, accountants, consultants, community activists. We hold a vision that people with disabilities in southwest Virginia will be active members of our communities and will have the support they need to live the lives they choose. We know that in Virginia people with disabilities who want to live in the community may need help and a microboard can help them. A microboard provides respectful, person centered support for individuals and their families. The most important first step toward establishing a microboard for a person is helping the person to have a strong circle of friends.
