Description: New River Community College (NRCC) presents their 5th Annual Comic Con on Saturday, October 28, 2017 on their Dublin, Virginia campus.

New River Community College's fifth annual Comic Con, sponsored by the NRCC library, will include 25 special guests and 20 dealers from throughout the New River Valley and beyond. Meet comic book artists, writers and authors of science fiction, fantasy and horror. Interesting panel discussions are scheduled throughout the day.

Guests include:
• Guy A. Sims, author, poet & writer for Brotherman Comics
• John Rose, writer & artist of comic strip "Snuffy Smith"
• Jimmy "The Boogie Woogie Man" Valiant, former WWE wrestler & hall of famer
• Stanley Galloway, professor of English at Bridgewater College & author of "The Teenage Tarzan"
• 501st Legion, International Star Wars Cosplay organization with chapters throughout the world
• Shannon Houff, Author of "Spring Blessings" and "Summer Sacrifices"
• Steve Mannion, creator of "Fearless Dawn" and artist on comic books “Galaktikon” and “Spookhouse”
and many more

Both cosplayers dressed up as their favorite comic book, sci-fi, fantasy or horror character and children wearing their Halloween costumes are welcome at the all-ages event. There will be a costume parade for all who want to participate.

There will be two Edgar Rice Burroughs panels. At 11:00 am in Edwards 120, Henry Franke III will host a panel on his involvement with the Tarzan newspaper comic-strip collections. At 1:30 pm in Edwards 206, Stanley Galloway ("Teenage Tarzan"), Lee Strong ("A Soldier of Poloda" and "Untamed Pellucidar") and Henry Franke III (editor of "The Burroughs Bulletin" magazine and "The Gridley Wave" newletter for the Burroughs Bibliophiles) will host an "Edgar Rice Burroughs" panel.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

Special guests and dealers will be located at Edwards Hall, Room 117 and exhibitions, displays and demonstrations will be held in the Student Lounge in Martin Hall.
