Mountain Highway® is a young family band that thrills audiences with classic traditional bluegrass songs they sing in crisp, family harmony. With music originally performed by Flatt & Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley and others, their performances assure audiences the bluegrass music they love will live on for at least another generation. The four sibling singers play banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and guitar, while their father plays upright bass.

The family’s musical journey began at a bluegrass festival in Galax, Virginia, where they picked up instruments for the first time. While attending HoustonFest, the kids visited an “Instrument Petting Zoo” hosted by the Blue Ridge Music Makers Guild. There, they learned about chords and spent hours getting acquainted with a guitar, banjo, fiddle, and mandolin. Within months, they were accepting invitations to perform regularly at area venues.

Nowadays, the family travels at least weekly to perform for audiences that love traditional bluegrass. Their favorite places to go require lots of travel on mountain roads, which is why they chose the name “Mountain Highway” for their group.

Performances in 2018 include Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver Fest in Denton, NC; HoustonFest in Galax, VA; Jerusalem Ridge Bluegrass Festival in Beaver Dam, KY; North Barton Grange Bluegrass Festival in Waverly, NY; WindGap Bluegrass Festival in Wind Gap, PA; several churches, and iconic bluegrass venues like The Floyd Country Store in Floyd, VA and The Earle Theatre in Mt. Airy, NC.
