New River Robotics Association presents the 5th Annual First Lego League (FLL) Robotics Competition Regional Tournament on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Blacksburg Middle School. Event Schedule: • 9:00 am: Opening Ceremony • 9:30 am - 3:30 pm: Judging and Matches • 11:30 am: Lunch for Teams & Volunteers • 4:00 pm: Awards and Closing Ceremony Watch 20 area teams, comprised of 3rd through 9th graders, compete and have fun with Lego Mindstorms robots with the opportunity to advance to the state tournament. FLL teams will build robots that complete missions of transporting into and exploring space. The table-top sized competition will offer many examples of the physical and social challenges that humans face when exploring space. Teams are evaluated on their robot design, robot performance, project presentation and a teamwork challenge. Refreshments will also be available for purchase. The main competition area is in the gym where no food and drinks will be allowed. The tournament will feature a new competition every five minutes. Referees and DJ make it fair and fun! Admission is free and all are welcome. Hosted by the Tuxedo Pandas robotics team, New River Robotics Association and Montgomery County Public Schools.
