Why not try something new? Aikido is a Japanese martial art focused on channeling an opponent's energy safely and efficiently. Kodokan Aikido will be hosting open practices where you can expect to learn fundamental concepts and how to stay safe on the mat.

The first few classes focus on teaching you how to be thrown by your partner without injuring yourself or others. No martial arts experience necessary. However, with continued and consistent practice, one can achieve better awareness of one’s body and better interactions with others in and out of class.

To sign-up online for your four free consecutive classes, visit: https://goo.gl/forms/00S03621sv5fU4PZ2.

Just wear a baggy shirt and long athletic/stretchy pants, bring a water bottle and you're all set! See you on the mat!

Aikido is known as the art of peace, and a practitioner strives to protect oneself, others, and even the opponent by controlling the three centers of the encounter. We learn the art of taking balance, which doesn't require strength but relies on flexibility and precise movement. Kodokan Aikido at Virginia Tech is member of the Aikikai Foundation, as a part of Kodokan Aikido, Okazaki Dojo under Tadamitsu Tanaka Shihan, 7th Dan.
