Runabout Sports presents the 6th Annual Hokie Half Marathon and 5k on Sunday, September 23, 2018 starting and finishing at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center. Schedule: • 7:00 am: Half Marathon Start • 7:20 am: 5K Start Come to beautiful Blacksburg, Virginia this fall and run with the Hokies! The 6th Annual Hokie Half Marathon and 5K is coming back bigger and better than ever featuring a great course, fun music, delicious food, terrific swag and the best finisher medal! With the first four miles on roads, the next six travel along the Huckleberry Bike Trail before heading back onto roads and bike trails for the final miles. Combined with a ton of live music throughout the course and plenty of cheering along the way, the Hokie Half is one you won’t want to miss! All finishers of the Half Marathon (including No-Frills option runners) will receive a Hokie Bird Half Marathon Finishers Medal. Online Registration closes on 9/20/18 at midnight and paper forms will be accepted until 8:00 pm on 9/22/18. Water and Gatorade are provided every two miles, along with a Gu station at mile eight, plus porta potties at several intervals along the course. Join us this fall and earn your Hokie Bird finisher medal and some awesome race swag! Please remember the Hokie Half Marathon has a four hour time limit for participants. The course will close at 4 hours (about 18:20 pace per mile). Those who did not finish within the four hour cut-off can still participate in the post race food and festivities, however we will not give out any finisher awards to those who did not finish on time and course support may not be available after 11:00 am. Beginning at 5:00 am on race day, buses will shuttle athletes and spectators from Virginia Tech’s Chicken Hill parking across from Lane Stadium to the start/finish area. They will run every 10 minutes. If you are dropping off a runner, you can drop them off at the Virginia Tech Airport.
