Description: Virginia Tech's Division of Information Technology presents Hidden Figures: Build-Your-Own-Robot Workshop as part of their celebration of Women's Month on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Room 1100 Torgersen Hall on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Have you ever programmed a robot? Or build a robot from scratch? This hands-on workshop will take you from the basics of moving a servo, to reading input from ultrasonic range sensors, and then constructing and programming a self navigating "Martian Laser Bot" that we affectionately refer to as the "trash bot” (because we make her out of scrap foam board, hot glue, milk jug caps, an arduino and a bit of code.

This is a great hands-on workshop for new and experienced makers alike, and is a ton of fun too!

Admission is free.

Capacity is limited to 20 participants and advance registration is required.

We will also be sharing information related to college access and majors in the STEM and data science fields.
