Description: The Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts continues their 2017/2018 Music on Mondays concert series with Visiting Artist Alexander Lapins on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Squires Recital Salon.

Visiting artist and tubist Alexander Lapins and faculty member and pianist Jay Crone perform an evening recital.

A diverse performer, Dr. Lapins is the only tubist to have won fellowships at both the Tanglewood Music Center and the Henry Mancini Institute. Dr. Lapins performed as a Principal Tuba of many professional orchestras and brass quintets throughout Indiana for several years, and was a first-call substitute/extra musician with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. While in Indianapolis, he was also a first-call studio musician, and can be heard on hundreds of recordings for Hal Leonard, Warner Brothers, Disney, Plank Road, Sacred Music Services, and a variety of other publishers and record companies. He has also performed with the Guy Lombardo Orchestra, The New Sousa Band, Harvey Phillips’ Tubacompany, and the Charleston, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Flagstaff symphony orchestras. As a chamber musician, Dr. Lapins has twice toured China, and has also performed in various ensembles in Europe and South America as well as throughout the United States.

Admission is $15.00 for the general public, $12.00 for seniors and $7.00 for students.

Advance ticket purchases are encouraged to avoid waiting in-line at the box office. Tickets will also be available at the box office one hour prior to the performance.
