2018 Special Olympics New River Polar Plunge Fest:

Cost: Minimum donation or total fundraising amount of $100.00 to participate per person. There is no upper limit as to how much money you can donate or fundraise.

Description: Special Olympics Virginia along with the Radford City Police Department and Radford University presents the 2018 Special Olympics New River Polar Plunge Fest on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Dudley's Landing in Bisset Park.

Schedule:
• 10:00 am: Check In / Registration Begins
• 12:00 pm: Costume Judging, Announcements & Prizes
• 12:30-2:00 pm: Polar Plunge

Break out your swim trunks and let’s get chilly with several hundred of the coolest Special Olympics supporters in the New River! We’ve got a DJ, costume contest with prizes and free hot chocolate to warm you up!

Grab your closest friends and family and come on out for the New River Polar Plunge® Festival! It’s $100.00 to participate and includes a Plunge Fest t-shirt, but the more you raise, the cooler the incentives. We have prizes for the best costumes and top fundraisers, heated changing tents to take the chill off, and of course an icy dip into the New River!

The New River Polar Plunge Fest, hosted by the Radford City Police and Radford University, has become a unique tradition that has grown to include more than 350 plungers and has raised more than $150,000 for Special Olympics Virginia’s programs.

The plunge is open to the entire community including Radford University alumni, Radford University and Virginia Tech students, youth groups, local residents — anyone that wants to help us raise money to benefit the amazing athletes of Special Olympics Virginia!

Anyone can Plunge, young and old! If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must sign your waiver form.

Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
