Description: The Radford University Planetarium presents the 2017 Eclipse Celebration on Monday, August 21, 2017 in the Radford University Center for the Sciences Building.

The sun-centered show "Eclipse 2017-Our Star, Our Sun" will be shown throughout the day in the planetarium. This show will explore our own personal, private star, our sun, and what powers it, what sunspots are, how its magnetic field works and how processes deep inside the sun affect our lives. We will explore the Earth-moon-sun geometry of eclipses and answer questions such as why eclipses don't occur every month.
