Description: The Floyd Center for the Arts (Formerly Jacksonville Center) presents The Floyd Plein Air Festival 2017 starting on Monday, August 14, 2017 through Saturday, August 19, 2017 at locations throughout Floyd, VA.

Thursday events will be held at the Riverstone Organic Farm located at 708 Thompson Road SE in Floyd, VA.

The Floyd Plein Air Festival 2017 is a new and exciting event that grew from the success of 2016’s Floyd Plein Air Crush weekend. Expanding to a week-long event, the festival will bring 25 national and regional artists to paint the beauty of the county’s open spaces and favorite places. Spectators are invited to observe, learn and interact with the artists.

Thursday Schedule:
• Daybreak - 5:00 pm: Open Painting Time for Artists at Riverstone Organic Farm (Free to Spectators)
• 3:00-4:00 pm: Farm Tours available (free)
• 6:00-10:00 pm: Farm to Table Dinner with Artists (All Access Patron Pass required)

All-Access Event Ticket holders are invited to dine with the artists at this private party. The Farm To Table Dinner will feature organic and farm-fresh foods. Dinner will also feature wines from Chateau Morrisette Winery. As a special early preview, artworks created during day will be available for sale at the farm during dinner.

Patrons are invited to walk the grounds of Riverstone Organic Farm and visit artists while they are painting throughout the day. Farm tours are available starting at 3:00 pm.

Our mission for the festival is to bring visibility and opportunity to the artists, participating venues, and partners, while providing an inspirational, educational, and memorable experience for the patrons attending. It is our hope that the festival will not only be an annual fundraising opportunity for the Floyd Center for the Arts, but also an activity to boost the sustainability of its partner venues and hosts.

More than $3,500.00 in prizes will be given away to participating artists! And we are pleased to announce Valerie Craig from St. Davids, Pennsylvania, as our judge for the events.

Some portions of the week long festival are ticketed while others are not. All week patron passes for either all-access or standard are available for purchase. To purchase a pass online, visit: http://floydartcenter.org/floyd-plein-air-festival-patron-pass/.

Partnering with The Center in this endeavor are Plein Air Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Chateau Morissette Winery, Riverstone Organic Farm, Apple Ridge Farm, and the Town of Floyd, as well as several host families and farms in and around the county.
