New River Community College presents the Family Fun Festival on Saturday, February 25, 2017 in 117 Edwards Hall on their Dublin, VA campus. The Family Fun Festival will include a variety of activities for adults and children. Children’s activities will include face painting, balloon art, a bouncy house and games. There will also be several science tables with animal displays including snakes, a red-tailed hawk, a scorpion, genetically modified fish, millipedes, tarantulas and Madagascar hissing cockroaches. The cockroaches will also be part of a “cockroach race” event. Other activities will include 3-D printing demonstrations, health and wellness activities and live music. Music will be provided by the band Don’t Quit Your Day Job. There will be a tricycle race for children around 1:45 pm during the band’s intermission. The race is for children five years old or younger and the winner will receive a briefcase full of school supplies. Please bring your own tricycle for the race. Free popcorn will be offered with additional food for sale by NRCC student organizations. The event is free and open to the public. Sponsored by NRCC’s Faculty Assembly.
