The 2017 Big Event at Virginia Tech:

Date: April 08, 2017
Time: 10:00 AM - TBD
Venue: Virginia Tech Drillfield
Description: Virginia Tech presents The 2017 Big Event throughout the New River Valley on Saturday, April 8, 2017.

The Big Event at Virginia Tech is a student-run community service effort that has grown into the 2nd largest event of its kind in the nation. Every spring, thousands of students, faculty, and staff come together to complete hundreds of community service projects throughout Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and the New River Valley.

The Big Event gives students a way to give back to our community and show appreciation to ALL non-student residents and organizations of Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and the New River Valley by completing volunteer projects FREE of charge.

To participate, New River Valley residents can sign-up with their projects and job requests at: http://vtbigevent.org/residents.

Projects are completed regardless of need or socioeconomic status; instead, it is The Big Event’s goal to simply say, “Thank you.” Seeded in our university’s motto of Ut Prosim (That I may serve) students and community members come together for a truly unparalleled experience.

Examples of previous projects include general yard work, painting, mulching, washing windows, cleaning, and minor repairs of general residences, churches, and other community locations. Projects should last no longer than 4 hours and must not involve power tools. If needed, tools can be provided by The Big Event.

The Big Event: “One Big Day. One Big Thanks.”
