The New River Valley Historic Dance Society (NRVHDS) presents Learn to Dance like George Washington on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Sapphire Ballroom & Dance Center. Social dancing in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries was an integral part of English and Colonial American society, bring together neighborhoods, families, and communities. Join the English Country Dancers of the New River Valley Historic Dance Society as we learn how to dance these fascinating relics of a bygone era. This month, we are focusing on the dances featured in the Williamsburg Heritage Dancers' Ball program to help prepare dancers interested in attending that event, but everyone and anyone is welcome, since these dances will be new to most of us. No experience or partner necessary! Casual attire appropriate. Children welcome. NRVHDS meets on the Second Tuesday of the month (other than February) at Sapphire Ballroom in Christiansburg, VA. Because we are skipping the second Tuesday of February (Valentine's Day), we are adding dates on 1/24 and 2/28.
