The Lifelong Learning Institute at Virginia Tech presents Case Studies in Terrorism with Kevin Foust on Monday, November 7, 2016 at the German Club Manor. Case Studies in Terrorism speaker Kevin Foust spent a number of years investigating terrorism against American citizens overseas particularly after the attacks on September 11, 2001. Investigations of international terrorism took him to more than 20 countries where he investigated incidents that included embassy bombings in Tanzania and Kenya and the attack on the USS Cole in Yemen. His FBI team was responsible for identifying the location of Osama Bin Laden and was instrumental in the actions that led to the end of Bin Laden's reign as leader of al Qaeda. Join Chief Foust as he discusses how the nature of terrorism has changed and shares his experiences with investigations. Learn more about the impacts of technology on the recruitment and radicalization of terrorists, and how partnerships with other law enforcement personnel-local, regional, national, and international-are used to keep our communities safe. Kevin Foust has worked in law enforcement since 1984. He began his career at the FBI in 1987, serving in several capacities including unit chief of the Osama Bin Laden Unit in the Counterterrorism Division. He was the supervisory senior resident agent for Southwest Virginia prior to joining the university. After retiring from the FBI in 2011, he joined the Virginia Tech Police Department where he currently serves as Chief of Police and Director of Campus Security.
