Description: The Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts presents the Progeny Film Festival on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Lyric Theatre.

The 13th annual Progeny Film Festival returns to the Lyric Theatre with a variety of original short films. The festival will screen and judge selected submissions from filmmakers on the East Coast as well as regional university, local residents and high school students.

About twenty films were selected for screening. The panel of judges includes Karl Precoda (Virginia Tech), Stephen Prince (Virginia Tech), Mike Allen (Roanoke Times), and Jochen Kunstler (Virginia Commonwealth University).

Admission is free.

The Progeny Film Festival is an annual event hosted by Virginia Tech's School of Performing Arts in Blacksburg, Virginia. Progeny's mission is to foster and showcase short, thoughtful, independent-minded, DIY-spirited, artful films by filmmakers from Southwest Virginia and the surrounding areas.
