Cambria Depot Day featuring the 611:

Date: May 07, 2016
Time: 12:30 - 4:30 PM
Venue: Whistle Stop Books
Description: Whistle Stop Books hosts the Cambria Depot Day featuring the 611 on Saturday, May 7, 2016 and Sunday, May 8, 2016.

Come watch Norfolk & Western's iconic 611 top the Christiansburg Grade (the hill the 611 was built to climb) and steam through Cambria on her way to Walton and back. Lots of space to watch her annual return to the New River Valley and to the rail line she ran when the railroad still used steam and still had passenger service.

The 611 is slated to come through Cambria between 12:30 and 2:00 pm heading west and between 2:30 and 4:30 pm heading east on May 7th & 8th.

Stop in the depot and see the exhibits in the freight house; participate in one of the activities; peruse the railroad memorabilia; tour the miniatures, and swing in Whistle Stop Books for some great reads or the Cambria Toy Station for a coloring book for the beach.

Proceeds from the weekend's activities go to the restoration fund for the Cambria Depot.

Parking is at something of a premium in Cambria, so head down early to get a good spot.
