Time: 12:00 - 1:00 PM

Description: The Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech presents their Wednesday Garden Talk Series featuring the Virginia Big Tree Program on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.

Eric Wiseman is Associate Professor of Urban Forestry at Virginia Tech and Coordinator of the Virginia Big Tree Program. The goal of the Virginia Big Tree Program is to increase the care and appreciation for trees by documenting the largest specimens of native and non-native species found in the state. There are 21 state champions in Montgomery County. Several are on the Virginia Tech campus, including the champion paperbark maple (Acer griseum) in the Hahn Horticulture Garden.

In this presentation, Dr. Wiseman will give an overview of the Virginia Big Tree Program and show you how to measure and nominate a tree for the big tree register.

All talks meet at the Peggy Lee Hahn Garden Pavilion. No charge and all are welcome. Parking pass is required for using our visitor lot.
