Description: The WTS International Student Chapter Kick Off featuring the U.S. DOT Deputy Assistant Secretary of Transportation as the keynote speaker will be held at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) on Friday, September 11, 2015.

This is the official kick off of the Virginia Tech chapter of WTS International. WTS is an international organization dedicated to building the future of transportation through the global advancement of women.

Our event will feature keynote speaker, Ellen Partridge, U.S. DOT Deputy Secretary of Transportation, panel discussions with staff from VTTI, VTTI demos, and Smart Road tours. Plus, we will be providing lunch! Reserve your spot using the link below.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER BIO: Ellen Partridge is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology at the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT). She was appointed in 2011 as Chief Counsel for the Research and Innovative Transportation Administration at the USDOT and appointed in 2014 as Deputy Assistant Secretary. Her office coordinates the Department’s research programs and is charged with advancing the deployment of cross-cutting technologies to improve the Nation’s transportation systems.

It includes the ITS Joint Program Office that focuses on intelligent vehicles, intelligent infrastructure and the creation of an intelligent transportation system; the Bureau of Transportation Statistics; the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center; the Transportation Safety Institute; the Office of Position Navigation & Timing and Spectrum Management; and the Office of Research, Development and Technology. The programs support investments in major research initiatives, exploratory studies and a deployment support program that includes technology transfer and training.
