Claytor Lake State Park celebrates Independence Day with a number of fun activities and events at the park on Saturday, July 4th. July 4th Event Schedule: • Nature Walk Time: 10:00 am Place: Shady Ridge Trail Head by the Picnic Area Enjoy a nice stroll and observe some of Claytor Lakes wildlife in its natural habitat! • Geocaching 101 Time: 12:00 pm Place: Howe House Visitor Center Take a crash course in Geocaching, an exciting scavenger hunt like GPS sport that the whole family can enjoy almost anywhere. • Tie Dyeing Time: 2:00 pm Place: Beach Facility Show us your patriotic side as we tie dye bandanas! Tie dye supplies and bandanas are provided. $2 craft fee applies, paid at Beach register. • What's Your Wingspan? Time: 5:00 pm Place: Beach Facility Compare your wingspan to the local birds and learn some fun facts! • Catching Fireflies Time: 7:00 pm Place: Campground D Interpretative Campfire Circle Make your won firefly catcher with a park ranger and enjoy a fun evening catching fireflies.
