Draper Mercantile presents their Wine Down Friday event with music by Marie Reid on Friday, July 24, 2015. Marie Reid is an acoustic Americana, folk, rock and blues musician currently residing in Mooresville, NC. Sturdy stock. The blood in these veins is high grade red dirt, stirred by ancient New River water, alongside Lead Mine Road, VA Rural Route 693. Not much Barbie Doll here. That pretty much sums up this music too... tunes chosen by a journeying woman crossed over the half-century mark. This is a soulful, sometimes rough-edged authentic sound in tunes I have written or covers I wish I had written. Collectively, they paint an American experience in a smart, funny and entertaining performance.
