Date: January 29, 2015
Time: 5:00 - 7:00 PM
Venue: Radford University
Description: Announcing auditions for Radford University's performance of "The Vagina Monologues" by Eve Ensler at the Bonnie Auditorium on Wednesday, January 28th from 3-5 pm and Thursday, January 29th from 5-7 pm.

Who is eligible to audition?
Women aged 16 and above of all cultures and ethnicities. We are particularly seeking women of color and transgendered females. Experience acting and training is a plus, but we will consider first timers who are skilled, motivated, and team oriented.

Note: No affiliation with Radford University is necessary.

Audition Requirements:

1) A prepared and memorized audition piece if you have it, one minute in length. OR a minute of feminist literature (a monologue, a poem, novel, or letter--written in first person which is meaningful to you) to be read, no longer than one minute.

2) A headshot, snap shot, or any recent photo that shows you from the chest up, and a resume listing your theatrical involvement and training

3) Your calendar to check your availability

Audition Process:
Arrive, sign in, get a number. All will audition one by one for the director with their prepared pieces. The director will then ask some to stay for further work.

Things to know:
The V-Day Organization requires that performances of “The Vagina Monologues” for V-Day must be presented “on book”, that is holding your lines in front of you, un-memorized. This is to bring emphasis to the fact that these are real women’s stories, and to bring awareness to the issue and less about the actor/performance. Therefore, memorization is not going to necessarily be required.

Requirements:
A willingness to take risks and be bold. A spirit of ensemble and team work. There are no stars, you must be willing to work with others. This production will have high expectations of professionalism and accountability. This is not therapy. No slackers or divas allowed.

Involvement in “The Vagina Monologues” is an incredibly rewarding experience. Your life will be touched in many ways. If you have any trepidation or concerns, we suggest you ask former Vaginas what their experience was like. Casting is solely at the discretion of the director. Those not cast will be offered other meaningful ways to be involved with RU’s V-Day Celebration. You must be available for all performances, tech rehearsals, and rehearsals. BREAK A LEG!

Performances are set for March 29, 30, and 31. Tech rehearsals: March 27, 28 times to be announced.

The Vaginia Monologues are sponsored by: Radford University's CPC, SCI, Women’s Studies Club, Women’s Studies Program.
