Virginia Tech presents the Martin Luther King Celebration Keynote with Jerry Gaines on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Haymarket Theater located within Squires Student Center. Jerry Gaines, a 1971 graduate of Virginia Tech, was the first full-scholarship African-American athlete to attend the university and the first African-American to be inducted into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame. To remember the life and legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., Virginia Tech will host, "What Happened to the Dream?", a ten-day celebration beginning January 19, 2015 featuring several events that are free and open to the public.
