The Blacksburg Library presents a Meet the Artist Presentation and Hands-On Session with Artist Marie L. Collier on Friday, February 6, 2015. Attendees will enjoy a fun hands-on session as Marie demonstrates and teaches how to draw trees. Supplies will be provided. Hailing from the coal fields of West Virginia, Marie spent her youth seeing the world through a veil of dust from unpaved roads and soot from smoking chimneys. Breaking from this gray mode, she was compelled to paint with new eyes. Today, her paintings are often bold, intense, and pristine in color. With an insatiable interest in art, she attended classes in drawing, painting, design, printmaking, and art history at various institutes. Her artworks have been selected for the permanent collections of many businesses, corporations, and private collections in both Europe and the U.S. The Blacksburg Library will be open extended hours on this date to participate in the Blacksburg Art Walk.
