Description: The 30th annual Rowdy Dawg Mountain Bike Race is scheduled for Saturday, October 25 through Sunday, October 26 at Pandapas Pond recreation area in Blacksburg.

This annual event is hosted by the Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Department and is sponsored by the East Coasters Bike Shops. The “Rowdy” bike race is the longest standing event in Southwest Virginia to challenge mountain bike racers and runners of all skills and expertise. Since 1988, the Rowdy Dawg has attracted participants from all over the Mid-Atlantic States to test their grit on the trails of Montgomery County.

Saturday Schedule:
• Super D Race
- Registration ends at 3 pm
- Rre-race meeting at the top of the mountain at 3:50 pm
- Race begins at 4 pm

The Rowdy Dawg is a full weekend affair with events taking place on both Saturday and Sunday. The Rowdy Dawg offers three different races including the Brush Mountain Breakdown, Cross-country Mountain biking and Downhill Mountain biking. The cross-country and downhill mountain biking races have various categories including beginner, sport, expert, XXC and super D.

There are also three competitions for runners; including a 5k, 10k and half marathon all promoted as the Brush Mountain Breakdown. Participants can compete in the mountain bike or run for an entry fee of $25. Participants receive an event tee-shirt and mug, an onsite catered meal and bike related goodies as part of the registration. Registration is now open and ends at 3 pm for races on October 25th and at 8 am for races on October 26th.

The Rowdy Dawg has grown each year and attracts a number of participants and spectators. “My favorite part about Rowdy Dawg is seeing how excited the racers are after completing such a challenging course” said Brad Buchanan, race organizer. Buchanan encourages outdoor lovers and sports enthusiasts to come out for a great time and plenty of excitement at every turn!
