Date: October 22, 2014
Time: 1:00 - 2:30 PM
Venue: Blacksburg Library
Description: The Blacksburg Library hosts Dr. James Wightman for a special talk about Liquid Surfaces at the Blacksburg Library on Wednesday, October 22nd.

Dr. James Wightman, Alumni Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at Virginia Tech, was named Virginia's Outstanding Scientist for 1994. Since 1757, scientists have studied the useful effects of oil films on water. They are used in conservation, mosquito control, and data storage. Come learn about surface tension and the thermodynamic difference between spreading and non-spreading films on water surfaces. The program will include simple demonstrations and a fiery conclusion.
