Cook and eat with your neighbors! Virginia Tech’s Sustainable Food Corps will be leading the preparation and service of a community meal at the Historic Bennett House in Wong Park. Spend the afternoon helping to cook an amazing meal or just show up to enjoy food and community at this beautiful outdoor location. All food is donated from local farms and grocery stores. The mission of the Sustainable Food Corps is to promote economic development within our community, to support a resilient, sustainable, locally–owned food system which provides improved citizen access to local and regional food.

Schedule:
• 2-6 pm - Cooking Meal (702/704 Progress Street in Blacksburg, VA)
• 6-8 pm - Eating Community Meal (Bennett House in Wong Park)

Volunteers are needed to help cook the meal at 702/704 Progress Street and all are welcome to enjoy the free Commuinty Meal at the historic Bennett House located within Wong Park.

Since 2007, the Town of Blacksburg has partnered with Sustainable Blacksburg and Virginia Tech to offer a week-long slate of events in mid-September giving town residents and university students lots of ways to "Celebrate - Educate - Motivate" around sustainability issues. Altogether, there will be 16 fun, informative, and inspiring events.
