Sustainability Week: Tree Planting Service Project:

Date: September 16, 2014
Time: 1:30 - 3:30 PM
Venue: The Grove (Virginia Tech President's Home)
Description: As part of Sustainability Week 2014, enjoy a Tree Planting Service Project at the The Grove (Virginia Tech President's Home) on Tuesday, September 16, 2014.

Rise and shine it’s tree plantin’ time! The National Arbor Day Foundation selected Virginia Tech for “Tree Campus USA” status in 2008 (the inaugural year of this program) and provided funds for the planting of 100 native trees. Over the past 6 years the university has planted over 130 additional trees during Sustainability Week in the fall, and Earth Week during the spring. Both of these events have directly contributed to the university receiving annual “Tree Campus USA” recertification. Please join faculty, staff, and students from across campus in planting a dozen native trees. We provide all the planting equipment.

Meet in the roundabout driveway at The Grove (The President's House) at 225 Grove Lane on the campus of Virginia Tech. Parking is available in the Smithfield parking lot.

Since 2007, the Town of Blacksburg has partnered with Sustainable Blacksburg and Virginia Tech to offer a week-long slate of events in mid-September giving town residents and university students lots of ways to "Celebrate - Educate - Motivate" around sustainability issues. Altogether, there will be 16 fun, informative, and inspiring events.
