The YMCA at Virginia Tech offers the day class Wheel Thrown Pottery 1 every Monday starting on Monday, September 8th and continuing until Monday, October 13th. Wheel Thrown Pottery I is taught by Michael LaRoche, Y Studio Potter. This six week class is a good introduction to working with clay on the potter's wheel or can be taken as a continuation of your practice of pottery. Clay is provided with the cost of the class. The Y Studio uses cone 6 clays and glazes, and all materials are provided. Feel free to bring your own tools to use, some community tools are available for use. The class is available for ages 12 and above. Taking this class allows the participant to use the studio during "Open Studio" hours which can be located on the Google calendar on the Y pottery website.
