The Great Road Encampment with 18th Century Reenactors:

Description: The Great Road Encampment, an authentic 18th century (1700-1799) encampment, will be held on Saturday, August 2nd from 9 am - 5 pm and on Sunday, August 3rd from 9 am - 3 pm at Eastern Montgomery Park in Elliston, VA.

Activities include:
• Demonstrations by 18th Century Reenactors
• Presentations on the history of The Great Road
• The Virginia Company of Roger's Rangers
• Detached Military Hospital and Medicine of the Time
• Vicky Ferguson with Native American Stories

Demonstrations include:
- Flintlock Muskets
- Camp Cooking
- Knife and Tomahawk Throwing
- Leather Work
- Blacksmithing
- 18th Century Clothing
- Spinning
- Weaving

All are welcome and admission is free however donations will be accepted. The event is rain or shine.

The Great Road was the main thoroughfare going west to the Frontier. It was traveled by the likes of George Washington, Daniel Boone, Andrew Lewis, William Preston, Adam Harman, the Ingles and Draper families. This Event honors all who passed through the Valleys of Southwest Virginia in the quest for a better life.

Eastern Montgomery Park is located at 5001 Enterprise Drive in Elliston, VA beside the Elliston Fire Department.
