The Virginia Tech Theatre & Cinema Program presents Steven Sater's "Spring Awakening" directed by Susanna Rinehart in the Squires Student Theatre on April 13th, April 15-19, April 21-26 at 7:30 pm nightly. There will also be a matinee showing at 2 pm on April 27th. Winner of eight Tony Awards (including Best Musical), "Spring Awakening" was described by critics as, “Like nothing that has ever been heard on a Broadway stage.” The score and lyrics of this groundbreaking rock musical capture the excruciating and transcendent yearning, fear and frustration of newfound adolescent sexuality and rebellion against the backdrop of 19th century Germany. The music was written by Duncan Sheik. Inspired by Frank Wedekind’s provocative 1891 play. NOTE: Recommended for mature audiences.
