The Floyd County Parks & Recreation present the 2026 Floyd County Independence Day Celebration at Floyd County High School on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Schedule of Events:
• 6:00 PM: Reading of Declaration of Independence
• 6:10 PM: National Anthem by Tara Hollandsworth
• 6:20 PM: Presentation of the Flags by the American Legion of Floyd County
6:30 PM: The Blankenships in Concert
7:30 PM: The Deer Run Drifters in Concert
9:30 PM: Fireworks Show
10:00 PM: End of Celebration
Get ready for an unforgettable night of fun, family, and community at Floyd County's Independence Day Celebration including live music from bluegrass band The Blakenships and headlined by The Deer Run Drifters! We will come together to celebrate with friends, neighbors, and families from all across our community.
Activities include:
• Fireworks Show
• Bounce Houses for the Kids
• Live Music
• Food Trucks
• Face Painting by Sweet Southern Smiles
• Local Vendors
• Crafts inside the gym with Citizens from 6:00-8:00 PM
• Photo Booth
• Play Zones, Games and more!
The Deer Run Drifters (DRD) are a stringed quintet from the small mountain town of Floyd, Virginia. The group, all from former bands of different genres came together in mid 2012 to play a more Folk, Bluegrass and Americana sound.
With one half of the band influenced by the sounds and lyrics of Alt-Country, and the other half deeply rooted in a more modern folk, The Deer Run Drifters have quickly carved themselves out a perfect spot in Americana music.

The best viewing area for the fireworks will be on the baseball field behind the high school, but you're more than welcome to view the fireworks from the parking lot too.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
Grab your lawn chairs, picnic blankets and we'll see you there!
No pets allowed other than service animals.
If the weather prevents us from having the event on the regularly scheduled date, we will reschedule the fireworks show to the following day.
